Protecting the environment starts by eliminating chemiclas used in your own back yard (pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and all the other poisons the chemical companies sell us). Go CLEAN and watch the birds and other wildlife prosper! You will save a lot of monet too.

Intall power strips for your computer and peripherals, and for your TV set and DVD player; then just click the switch each night. Clean your refrigerator coils and your dryer vents. Install energy saving lightbulbs. Do these things and save 15-20% on your electric bill.......I did!

I always have unplugged my computer when not using it. Almost all my home lighting is flourescent. I gave up my car years ago. I am a retired engineer and am quite aware of where energy goes - and wasted.

I write an energy and sustainability column weekly, and have turned my small cottage into a green energy demonstration site. We drive a Prius and have switched to a pellet stove, turned our front yard into a garden for organic produce, can our own tomatoes, peppers and fruit, compost, recycle, and purchase energy efficient appliances.
